Beau-Rivage Palace

A stay at the Beau-Rivage Palace Lausanne is a journey through 159 years of history, anecdotes and splendor. From Victor Hugo to Bono to Charlie Chaplin, the elegant Grand Hotel has hosted numerous personalities and artists as well as international travelers. Since 1861, the Beau-Rivage Palace has stood on the shores of Lake Geneva, making it the first luxury hotel to open in Lausanne. Originally, it consisted of a single wing (the Beau-Rivage wing). In 1908, the emblematic building was embellished with a second wing under the direction of Jacques Tschumi, the former General Manager and founder of the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL). Built in 1908, the Rotonde connects the two wings of the building, which is one of the best hotels in Europe and is part of the Leading Hotels of the World. The talented interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon has succeeded in capturing the soothing atmosphere of the lake at the heart of the 5-star hotel by redesigning the rooms between 2012 and 2014 using pastel shades and effective mirror arrangements. The Beau-Rivage Palace is embedded in a four-hectare park with spectacular views of the French and Swiss Alps. Enjoyment is written in capital letters here. The gourmet restaurant "Anne-Sophie Pic at Beau-Rivage Palace" has been awarded 2 Michelin stars. The "Café Beau-Rivage" serves local and French dishes, the "Miyako Lausanne" offers sushi "à la minute" and at "L'Accademia" you can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine. To round off the evening, guests can choose between the Lobby Lounge and the BAR. Other amenities include the breakfast restaurant "La Terrasse", two tennis courts and various age-appropriate activities especially for children. In June 2020, the new Cinq Mondes Spa was opened, the result of an eight-month renovation. The new wellness concept is the vision of the hotel's managing director, Nathalie Seiler-Hayez. In addition to its prestigious guest clientele, the Beau-Rivage Palace has a wine cellar with over 70,000 bottles (one of the largest in Europe), a pet cemetery in the garden, which has already become a local attraction, and Le Montreux, a Belle Époque steamship that offers gourmet cruises on the lake in the summer and is operated by the Beau-Rivage Palace team. The luxury hotel will celebrate its 160th anniversary on March 24, 2021.

At the Beau-Rivage Palace, culinary delights are the focus of your stay. Here, guests experience top-level culinary delights - from a star-rated restaurant and an elegant brasserie to Japanese cuisine - the Beau-Rivage Palace offers just the right thing for all tastes.

The flagship of the luxury hotel is Anne-Sophie Pic's gourmet restaurant, rated 18 points by Gault Millau and awarded two stars in the Guide Michelin. Awarded three stars for the cuisine of her restaurant in Valence, the only female chef in France to receive such a high decoration, she manages to adapt her cooking to Swiss tastes and regional products. The French star chef works closely with regional producers and offers her customers taste combinations full of emotion. The "Pic Collection" menu contains some indispensable classics of family cuisine that bear witness to the transmission of taste and values. The dining room, designed by the English interior designer Stewart Wilson, gives preference to natural colours such as beige and white. Large window fronts offer a breath-taking panorama of Lake Geneva and the French Alps. When the weather is fine, tables are set on the terrace, in the shade of the hundred-year-old cedars of the four-hectare park.

Miyako Lausanne, the Japanese restaurant of the Beau-Rivage Palace, serves the best that the cuisine of the Land of the Rising Sun has to offer. Fresh ingredients are used to conjure up light, tasty dishes. Sushi and sashimi are served freshly prepared. Japanese cuisine is known for its quality and Miyako Lausanne offers the finest healthy and detoxifying dishes. The interior is decorated in a contemporary style. Miyako Lausanne's culinary offering includes delicious hot dishes that are freshly grilled on a steel plate at the Teppanyaki cooking station. For lovers of national cuisine, it is a fascinating experience to watch the best Japanese chefs in the region composing special dishes from top-quality ingredients with skilled hands.

Café Beau-Rivage is a veritable institution in Lausanne-Ouchy – for the past 30 years it has brought together holiday makers, business people in search of a little peace and quiet, regular guests and families. As soon as the first warm days of the year have arrived, the terrace with its trees and view of Lake Geneva is the place to be. But the charming interior is also delightful and wows everyone who loves elegant brasseries and quality service.

Part of the Angleterre & Residence hotel partner, L’Accademia offers authentic Italian cuisine. In the warm and distinguished setting of the restaurant one can savour Italian classic dishes spiced with a hint of invention.

With its glazed walls overlooking the natural environment, the panoramic view from the dining room of the breakfast restaurant La Terrasse is unique. The high-quality, varied buffet is a gourmet delight.

The Lobby Lounge is located at the entrance of the hotel and probably has one of the most beautiful terraces in Lausanne. From 8.00 AM, it welcomes guests for a small breakfast. Throughout the day they can choose from small dishes on the menu. In the evening, classic and unusual cocktails are served in The BAR. In keeping with the excellent cuisine of the Beau-Rivage Palace, the wine cellar is impressive, with its wealth of more than 3,000 references and 75,000 carefully stored and resting bottles, it is indisputably one of the most important wine cellars in Europe.

Spa & Wellness

The brand new 1'500 m2 Spa Cinq Mondes, inaugurated in June 2020, is also exclusive and unique in Switzerland, making the 5-star hotel a true oasis of relaxation. Cinq Mondes combines a wide range of quality, authenticity and exquisite service inspired by great wellness traditions from around the world. Jean-Louis Poiroux, the founder of Cinq Mondes, travelled the globe for more than ten years to gather the best treatments and massages. In addition to fragrant baths, Balinese or Taoist massages and other exotic treatments, the spa includes nine treatment cabins, a relaxation room, heat and water experience areas as well as aqua-sensory areas, a gym, a yoga studio, two heated pools and the summer restaurant Ô Terrasse - all nestled in lush greenery overlooking the lake. In the eyes of General Director Nathalie Seiler-Hayez, the new spa in the lavish Cinq Mondes design, with its discreet, warm and authentic welcome, is a source of general well-being. The project as such was entrusted to architect Alexandre Pierart (Suprem Architectures), whose aim was to create a voyage of discovery of physical sensations and visual emotions. The new Cinq Mondes Spa at the Beau-Rivage Palace is the first step towards the "Wellness Experience", the business philosophy created by Nathalie Seiler-Hayez, which will be extended to the entire hotel by spring 2021.
