History

Every historical hotel in Venice tells its own tales and the Bauer Palazzo is no exception. Since its opening in 1880 the Bauer has been setting the standard for hospitality in Venice. In the beginning it was managed by Theodor Bauer, the experienced and respected director of the Hotel De la Ville in Venice, together with the young Austrian entrepreneur Julius Grünwald. In the 1930s the Bauer Palazzo got a new owner - shipbuilder Arnaldo Bennati. Under his leadership the hotel was completely restored. During this extensive renovation, which lasted almost 10 years, the building also received a new more modern unit, in the style of that time.

The unique roof terrace on the 7th floor "Settimo Cielo", the highest outdoor terrace in Venice, was created as well. In addition, air conditioning and central heating were installed during the reconstruction - amenities that were exceptional for this decade. To this day the hotel's attention is focused on the highest standards and demands of luxury, refinement, progressiveness and guest comfort.
